Hi, I’m Hoda

I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Oregon, and offer individual counseling to adults.

My name, Hoda, means “guidance.”

I carry it as a gentle reminder as I support you in navigating life’s journey, helping you notice and trust the guidance that's already within you

I offer a supportive, warm, and collaborative space where you can explore your story, feel truly understood, and gain the clarity you need.

Whether you’re wrestling with anxiety, chronic stress, unresolved trauma, or persistent guilt around setting boundaries, we’ll work together to understand what’s beneath it.

Yes, we may explore difficult topics, but I also bring warmth, patience, and humor to our sessions—because healing is about kindness and light, as well as depth.

If this resonates, I invite you to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation - no pressure, just a chance to see if working together feels like a good fit.

Hoda Tirafkan (She/her), Licensed Professional Counselor, LPC

A little about me

  • I completed my Master of Science in Couples and Family Therapy at the University of Oregon. I am licensed in the State of Oregon as a Licensed Professional Counselor and have been seeing clients since 2017.

My training has uniquely prepared me for individual counseling, with a focus on helping people understand themselves more fully and feel more grounded in both their inner world and their relationships.

I prioritize ongoing learning and regularly participate in continuing education so I can bring current, practical, and evidence-based approaches into my work.

  • Life has taken me across different cultures, cities, countries, schools, languages, and ways of being - giving me firsthand insight into what it’s like to adapt and grow despite life’s uncertainties.

I speak English and Farsi/Persian fluently, and my lived experiences inform my sensitivity to cultural identity, discrimination, immigration stress, social and cultural pressures, and family dynamics. I recognize and honor the importance of exploring the challenges of balancing personal goals with family and social expectations in a society that often feels like go, go, go.

Together, we can explore ways to honor yourself and build a sense of belonging, even in a culture that rewards constant doing, overcommitting, perfectionism, saying yes too often, and sacrificing your own needs to keep everyone else happy.

  • Outside the therapy room, I stay grounded with simple things—exploring local coffee shops and small businesses, crafting, playing keyboard, trying to keep my plants alive (mostly successfully), and the occasional truly restorative nap. Sushi is also a constant favorite.
